Economic analysis
Strong foundations for growth
The UAE economy remains resilient despite regional uncertainty. Economic diversification and long-term government investment continue to support growth.
The UAE’s departure from OPEC in May 2026 gives it more flexibility over oil production. Production capacity is above its previous OPEC+ quota. Higher output could increase government revenue and support further investment.
The maturity of the UAE market also provides stability. This supports long-term investment decisions despite near-term uncertainty.
The market is adjusting to regional uncertainty, but its direction has not changed.
Drivers of demand
Investment remains broad. Major infrastructure programmes are progressing, alongside continued development in the aviation, hospitality, and industrial sectors. Digital infrastructure is a key growth area. Investment in AI and cloud computing is driving demand for new data centre capacity.
Government plans to grow the UAE’s population support the long-term outlook for residential development. A substantial pipeline is already under way. New launches are becoming more measured, but projects in delivery continue to generate significant construction demand.
Government response
The UAE government has taken targeted action to help businesses manage short-term pressures and maintain access to finance during the recent period of disruption. The Central Bank of the UAE introduced measures to support businesses and keep credit flowing.
By May 2026, these measures had supported AED6.2 billion in lending through loan deferments, interest relief, and fee waivers. More than 4,800 businesses have benefited. Hospitality and transport were among the priority sectors due to their greater exposure to recent disruption.
Emirate-level initiatives are also helping businesses manage short-term costs and other pressures. Together, these measures show the UAE’s ability to respond quickly without losing sight of its long-term economic priorities.
Market outlook
The market is adjusting to regional uncertainty, but its direction has not changed. Clients are looking more closely at cost, risk, and long-term viability. The underlying drivers of development remain strong.
The UAE’s diverse economy, long-term investment plans and mature market support a positive outlook. Sentiment in the construction industry remains positive, although investment decisions are becoming more considered.
