Here is a snapshot of some interesting sustainable, eco-friendly projects currently under construction.
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Construction has started on the first phase of the FAT Village: part of which is a 185,000ft² mass timber framed office. The mixed-use development is expected to be complete by the end of 2026, aiming for LEED Gold and WELL Building Certification.
Ann Arbor, MI
The University of Michigan has started building its new 142,000ft² mass timber College of Pharmacy. Scheduled for completion in Fall 2025, it aims to reduce construction carbon emissions by 1,500 MTCO2e, equivalent to the annual emissions of 357 gasoline-powered cars.
Portland, OR
The Oregon State University officially broke ground on their first-of-its-kind mass timber lab called Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex in April. The $213 million complex spans 150,000ft², featuring 12,000ft² of cleanroom, and is set to open in 2026.
Girdwood, AK
The Alyeska Resort is upgrading their facility Alyeska Village and the 125,000ft² Moose Meadows, both built with mass timber, populated with new commercial, residential and communal spaces. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2025 and slated to be complete in Fall 2027.
